SymbiosisW/S is a collection of interactive design objects that combine smart textiles with soft electronics. The biologically inspired artifacts represent the symbiosis between a cyber organism and the human itself. The fabricated hybrid material reacts to the environmental stimuli; each member of the collection project different kinds of interaction. Their development itself is an iterative process; starting with a conceptual installation our aim is to integrate these objects into everyday's life.
SymbiosisS is an electronic textile designed for public places where people need to wait for a long time - such as hospitals or administration offices. The artifact visualizes minutes one spends while waiting; by taking seat, an animation od pattern-patches start to appear on the three-dimensional carpet-like material.

Originate of the concept
The concept of the collection is a tribute to the ultimate power of evolution; where not only the human civilization impacts on the environment, but nature itself reacts and adopts to these changes. We would like to emphasize that humanity is not an outsider, but a part of the nature as well.
Instead of criticizing the civilization's consequences on the environment we explore the possible arise of new types of mutant living beings.
Still, it is difficult to realize the impact of humans on the balance of the natural environment; since our sensation is more dependent on the „here and now“: we notice the sudden changes, however we can not detect gradual change. The designed objects of the family sense this alter immediately and manifest those changes visually.
Technical description
SymbiosisW/S consists of industrial felt, thermo-cromic ink, conductive thread, soft sensors and microcontroller. Threads are stitche along the desired patterns. Animation is achieved though separately controlling the more than 60 separate threads.
